Lake Air Strip

The overflow became real bad ...even the Scandic 800 "Miss Piggy" couldn't move in it... Bryan had too pack about 1/5th of the 1 km strip by snowshoe. That was 3 days ago. Today it looks firm and solid. Weather is suppose to get good in the next few days so hopefully Chris will fly our parts in along with some fresh veggies etc.
In the last 3 days we've been able to make it up to the first beaver ponds in Walkers' Valley (2 km) Snow is 5 feet deep there requiring lots of packing the trail with snowshoes on any steep hill or bad corner. Miss Piggy is a good machine though....she climbs up on top of the snow and packs it down. The Tundra 550 long track has a harder time doing that, so in these conditions of first laying the trail she gets to stay home. My little Tundra 300 is a great follower.

  1. Thats a lot of work you guys, must make you a little cranky at times. Looking at the snow load on your cabin I imagine the lodge is ready for a good snow shoveling. Being close to the coast when does your snow usually dissapear in the Spring?

  2. Hi Steve....we sometimes have debates on how to do something but for 352 days of the year we get along just fine. They should be planning on coming in to do the lodge as soon as the strip settles down. We have snow here until 10 of May but lake doesn't go off until May 21 and then we have to wait for Atlin lake to go off which is the end of the first week in June. The floats will be put on the Beaver and it can't fly out of Atlin Lake ....even though we are open 2 to 3 weeks before.

  3. Hello the cabin! glad all is well and that parts and goodies are nearly there.
You must be a good team though ,out on your own out there. Even with the overflows and all the snow to press down on the trails. You have to focus on the good things
and keep laughing. Not much snow left here now but more will come :)Brian(:
