Wolf looks but leaves Marten alone
The Wolf was sure curious.....right under the hanging Marten and must have been nudging it with it's
nose. The Marten was only 4 feet off the ground. All around the tree where track and it had left a pee spot. It must have wanted that dead Marten but was very concerned over the metal .... there was no sign of Marten being pulled alot.

He'll be back........ ;-) Snares?
Hi Evan.....supply Beaver is coming in at 1 today so it is exciting around here. We had no snares down at the end of the Inklin trail but might put some up the next time we check line. When one considers wolves have 8 pups each year and a moose has at the most 2...with the grizzly/black Bear, Wolf/heavy snowfall, gang it is not fair.
Hi Bryan&Vikki
Im happy your plane is getting in at last nature was against you. But it always is and you ,as always work with it, not against it!
Do you lose a lot of Animals out of your traps
to bigger predators?
:)Brian(:
Good morning,
I hope the plane got in and you had a nice pigout on fresh stuff. I agree that wolves can sure bring down a population. I lived in Revelstoke in the 90's and we had a deep snow year in 96. Took the moose several years to recover.
There were coyotes in my yard last night after the cats. I tried to get one this morning with my 22-250 but no luck. I've noticed that when the population of coyotes builds up and they get brave, I go on a blitz and they eventually start to avoid our farm entirely again for a year or two. Learned my lesson one year though. I had a great run of "braggin" shots on coyotes, and I got so many that soon I had beavers daming the pasture and racoons chasing the cats away from their food. Once the coyotes came back, no more beavers or racoon problems.
You mentioned earlier in the winter that you have some black wolves. I've seen some great wolf rugs from black ones, especially if they are outlined in glacier blue or red felt. Is there a "taxidermy" sale for wolves, like there is for wolverines? (skinned with feet and face intact)
