If there is no presence on our land there are some people who think it is up for grabs (like our Northwest Passage). We trap in a remote area of Northern B.C., CANADA, 100 km from the nearest road. We fly in by Beaver Bush Plane and stay here for long periods of time. We are caretakers of the land and this is how we live.
I know that the bears come out of hibernation really hungry. In Alaska I've watched them eating grass this time of year. Are there berries out there? Marmots?

ReplyDeleteHi Art... We've seen the Bears eating grass, new popler leaves, mice, tearing up Beaver lodges, digging up Muskrat houses, stripping huge Spruce trees for the sap. You can see them up on the hills digging and digging big holes...probably after Voles, mice and such. We've never seen Marmots here.
ReplyDeleteHello Kent... Glad to know you're out there.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the enjoyable reads.
ReplyDeleteAs for your last photo - its a Snipe :)
Art... Bryan corrected me.... we have lots of Marmots here. Also Bears go after Chickens, Cows, and Buffalo. Probably sheep too.
