Busy Beavers....

The creek is opening up so early this spring.  In a day or so we will not be able to walk over to see the Beaver lodge.

Alder are starting to bud out... if you look alone the shore you will see "Bee" out for a walk with us....If we get too far away from her she starts to howl...

  1. Twice in the last 29 years we've had beavers take down a dozen trees in about 500' of shoreline between a WED and SAT, both times in the fall. The DNR told me they go into a bit of a fall feeding frenzy for about two weeks in the fall. They took down birch, maple, an oak each time. Of course they also took a few white pine that I grew from seedlings to about thirty feet.

  2. Art.... that would hurt after watching the white pine grow to 30 feet. We put net bags with old dog hair in it on the trees we don't want to see cut down. So far it is working. Touch wood.
