It is always a great day when Chris shows up in his De Havilland Beaver. He'd brought in our good friend Henri (remember he helped Bryan last year build the line cabin), also Sophie (she is recently widowed. Her dear husband Earle was a good trapper, vegetable grower and taxidermist. He is missed by Sophie and us all). Also the plane was full of supplies, Christmas gifts and some fresh salad stuff!!!!! Last year on a short holiday, Vikki and her mom had met some Texans from Luddock. When they heard how remote we were they said they would surprise us at Christmas. Well..... opening that box was real fun. Bryan first grabbed for the Cracker Jack's and Vikki went for the Cherry lip balm. They'd also sent Swiss Hot Chocolate, tiny marshmallows, Chocolates, Life Savers, bright hair elastics... A big thanks from Bryan and Vikki.... It was so nice to be remembered. Vikki's mom had sent some really good books, small pocket lights, fire crystals and long lighter (looked like a small fishing rod). Also a letter from our good friend Larry. Also two large plastic bags full of mail... mostly charities, catalogues and trapper news.
Chris and Sophie stayed for about 3 hours. It was wonderful. They brought the good weather which has been here ever since. Lots of sunshine and mild weather (-10 c at night and -1 in the daytime).
Henri is staying to keep Bryan company down on the Sutlahine.
