MOOSE HUNT.... Tues. Sept. 18th, 2012

By 11:30 we were ready to start hauling the moose hunting gear over to the head of the quad trail.  Bryan had taken one quad plus the trailer over yesterday.  It's about a 2 km trip by barge to the other side of the lake.

Everything is tied down securely.  It is a slow trip... about 6 km an hour on the quads to cover 13 km which will take about 3 1/2 hours.  We are heading up to Walkers Valley Line cabin.  We will be opening up the trail on the way which will add a little more time if there is lots of blow down.
The Devil's Club is changing colour

Lots of different Mushrooms... these are not edible.

A fresh Bull Moose Scrap.  First they use their horns to dig a hole ..... then they urinate in it as a calling card for the Cow Moose.

The Line Cabin survived the winter.  This is the same cabin that is on the Front of the Blog right now.  That grey blur is our cat Bee.... getting out of her traveling case.

  1. Good to see you back. We had two hard frosts last week and the days are much shorter. This is my favorite time of the year in MN and it looks like very nice weather in BC, too. Good luck w/ the moose.
