The Bull was quartering towards us. Bryan had to wait 7 to 8 minutes for the Bull Moose to turn sideways. Bryan did a low grunt and it stopped him dead. The shot went off and the Bull's knees buckled a little for a second and it gained control and ran 20 yards into the brush.
Bryan climbed down from the tree stand and headed around behind. The cow was still there. Vikki stayed look out. The cow walked off and Bryan found the Bull.

9:30 am Off Vikki and Bryan went to get the quads and dogs. First we tried to pull the Bull with the winch on the Honda 500 Foreman but it required the two quads pulling together to get him out of the willows. We dragged him 200 yards into a flat open shady spot. There are lots of Grizzly and Black Bear here and the work has just began.
Our cat Bee walked out to where we were standing to check things out for herself. She's a pretty adventuresome cat.
Nice one!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Looks like you will be eating good this winter. :-)
ReplyDeleteVery nice Moose Bryan, hopefully the weather up there is a little cooler than down here. Does Vikki usually can most of it? I just recently purchased a 42 quart pressure canner for the wife, it holds 18 quart jars and I hope to can a bunch of Moose meat myself soon. ( if I get enough time off work to get one ) Good luck with the upcoming trapping season.
ReplyDeleteCongrats. Looking forward to the details on the hard part of the hunt.
ReplyDeleteWell done Bryan , lots of canning now for the fast coming winter :)
ReplyDeleteNice hunt you two. Now that is a decent mountain of meat. Excellent. Good eating for Bryan and Vikki this winter! There was a time when my kids preferred moose meat over beef. I haven't shot one for a while now. Time to fix that, ha. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your comments. Right now it is hard to find the time to Post because of all the work. Steve... Vikki has already canned about 7 boxes. Bryan has already helped cut up 3 quarters and he has dug up 500 pounds of Potatoes.
ReplyDeleteSnow 100 metres above the lake this morning. Busy Busy Busy...So good to hear from you Evan.
Art, Brian, Mike and Evano. So good to know you are all out there.
Congrats! I'm totally amazed you've had the time to post and comment. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Trappers, glad to see you're back. The photos from your moose hunt are amazing! Good luck this winter
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see Hannah again. Looks like she's saying, "This is how we do it."
ReplyDeleteI agree with George. One of the best things about this post is the pictures of Hanna. She just looks so happy and content, especially in that picture with Bryan and the moose. Good job including her on the hunt like that!
