MOOSE HUNT 4th Day Sept 21, 2012

Alarm went off and Vikki didn 't even hear it.  We got up at 7:15.  Slight fog drifting.  Clear skies.  After about an hour Vikki finally said "This is ridiculour!!!"  Bryan replied "It's not ridiculous, it's ludicrous!!!"
Another half hour and Vikki said "I hear a grunt really far away south way past the pond".  The fog was drifting back and forth limiting visibility to 150 meter most of the time.  We saw the cow moose swim over to the right side of the pond.  Bryan was coaxing with a little bit of cow calling, horn thrashing and bull grunts.  "If it wasn't for the fog we could probably see him", Bryan said.   20 minutes after the first grunt we could finally see him through the fog about 700 yards away standing there.  Then HE STARTED WALKING AND GRUNTING EVERY FEW STEPS.  Some loud, some quiet (guttural pig noises).  He walked to the left side of the pond, then finally swam over to the cow grunting constantly.
For 5 minutes it was pretty quiet.  Bryan said he could have gone off with the cow.  After another few minutes Vikki could hear a cow cough then a couple of low Bull grunts. "Cow call once, more!"  Bryan did.  A few minutes more and Bryan saw the cow heading towards us.  Finally the Bull appeared behind the Cow.  Both very pretty nervous.

  1. Absolutely beautiful. Clearly in range. I'm assuming there will be moose meatballs aplenty.
