Bryan got all the stuff he needed strapped onto the quad. It took the rest of the afternoon to clear a spot for the camp and put it up. When Bryan crawled into the small pup tent with Ishi she couldn't believe her luck. Bryan was at her level and was going to sleep with her. She mugged him for about an hour and fell asleep. Well, it's a good thing she got to sleep that first night.
The next day Bryan said he heard a sound like a Lion roaring. A little while later Ishi had her first glimpse of a Grizzly. Her hair stood up 5 inches on her back and she barked her head off. The bear was about 50 ft away. Bryan yelled and threw sticks at it. Slowly off it went. It appeared that day about twice more. That night in the pup tent Ishi turned into CANINE ERRECTUS... sitting in the little tent all night like a Sphinx. Her eyes slowing moving around in her head.
The Third Day that Grizzly showed up about 8 times. Bryan figures it is feasting on the High Bush Cranberry, Gooseberries, Currants etc that are ripe and sweet right now.
What a good little guard dog!
ReplyDeleteI know that shooting into the ground close to a bear really scares it off. I just wonder if a person threw a big rock and landed it near the bear so he could feel the impact, might have the same effect? Shooting past their face doesn't even make them blink. A rock bouncing off their head doesn't either.
