-10 Cel....Yesterday morning on wakening at 7:30 pm Vikki found the Cow Moose and Calf still resting near the cabin. At 4 am Ishi had started whining and with the spotlight they had been spotted ..... their eyes reflecting back.
Their ears move every 30 sec. and they are constantly sniffling the air.
This morning fresh new beds showed they had been back again last night. Last night wolves were howling at the end of the lake.

That is very interesting that they feel safe there. I'm assuming that the wolves keep their distance from your encampment. How close do they come? I've found wolf tracks w/i a 150 yards or so of our 'up north' place but we are not there very much. When we had a dog it seemed that all the wildlife kept their distance.
ReplyDeleteReally wonderful to be living close to wildlife like that and having them feel comfortable too. Poor Ishi.
ReplyDeleteArt, we always see wolf tracks out on the airstrip, also there have been tracks just by the back gate. Two years ago they tried for several days to get our old dog to leave the yard. Three years ago a pack charged right into the yard. Bryan shot 4 and there were still lots out in the trees.
