Bryan has been filling the yard with firewood to be split. Looks like 6 cord so far and he's still hauling it in. Vikki has been doing a Potato count. We have 180 left. She put the seed potatoes at the back and has the ones for eating up front. Some of the bottom layer in the boxes had frozen and rotted.
The Carrots are all gone. Lots of Turnip left and they are in great shape. Checking the last large bag of Onions showed a lost of 1/4. With the iffy ones Vikki made French Onion Soup. Still have 15 pounds left.
Planted the Tomato seeds. Last fall a list was made of the plants that had the most tomatoes on them and that is what is being planted this season. In the green house the best producers were Arbason F1(doesn't need bee pollination), Mortgage Lifter (draught tolerent) and Black Krim (Heirloom). For cherry tomatoes.... Juliette and Balcony charm. For Plum tomatos.... Bellstar and Olivale F1. I also added Sub Artic Plenty and Primo Red which did alright but not great.
The new iphone has been getting lots of use. We signed up for Audible.com at 7.99 a month for 3 months. Have downloaded 20 books and we find we are really enjoying them. Just finished "Matterhorn" a story about the Vietnam war. This is a long book. Vikki thought the 27 hours would last for a month. It was done in 3 nights. We had ordered little X-mini speakers from ebay. Come in package of 2 for 35.00. These can be charged. They are attacked to the iphone and fill the whole room with sound. Great speakers.
Vikki thinks her new Kindle will take these audible books also but hasn't had time yet.
The wolves came two weeks ago and it looked like they herded the Cow and calf moose and the two Bulls down to the Inklin.
Vikki's Tundra needs a new intake manifold boot. This seems to be the only weak point on this little machine. Two new ones are coming in on the fuel flight. If you have a Tundra 300 carry a spare one on your machine. If it fails you will blow up your engine in about 10 minutes.

Good to have you back Trappers, not much firewood needed this winter in our part of the world very mild only a scattering of snow and it was gone in a day. I hope the tomatoes do well ,and enjoy your new gagdets take care :)
ReplyDeleteThe Black Krim are one of my favorites. My number one favorite is the Green Zebra.
ReplyDeleteI took down four very large oak trees in our yard last fall. The largest was about 4' in diameter. I've been splitting by hand all winter and have about 12 cords. Of course it was so mild we only burned about one cord.
ReplyDeleteArt... I've ordered the Green Zebra. Wish it was here now. Hand splitting 12 cords of work will sure keep you fit. Good for you.
