WITHOUT A PATH THE BUSH HERE IS DENSE.. FULL OF BLOW DOWN, WINE WILLOW, DEVIL'S CLUB AND ALDER
HANNAH AND BEE FOLLOWING ON THE WALK
THE CREEK IS JUST STARTING SPRING RUN OFF. VIKKI HAD WALKED ACROSS THE CREEK IN HER RUBBER BOOTS AND BEE WAS SCREAMING BECAUSE SHE WAS LEFT. SHE'S ONE BRAVE CAT... JUMPING RIGHT INTO THE CREEK AFTER US. ON THE OTHER SIDE SHE WAS LICKING HER WET LEGS AND SHAKING. IN THIS PIC VIKKI AND HANNAH HAVE RE CROSSED THE CREEK... BEE IS NOT GOING TO JUMP IN THE CREEK AGAIN.... SHE HEADED UP TO THE NARROWER SPOT AND JUMPED RIGHT OVER.
THESE FLECKERS NEST IN THIS TREE RIGHT BESIDE OUR CABIN
NOW THIS BUSY BEAVER HAS BEEN EYEING OUR WILLOWS. VIKKI IS GOING TO MAKE HANNAH FUR ONION BAGS OR MAYBE A SCARE PERSON TO TRY TO SAVE HER THREE BRAIDED WILLOW GROUPS.
CHRIS FROM ATLIN AIR FLEW OVER IN HIS 207 AND WAVED HIS WINGS... HANNAH AND VIKKI WERE ON THE DOCK WAVING..... HE WAS JUST CHECKING TO SEE IF EVERYTHING WAS A- OKAY.
I am a beekeeper and have problems with black bears. Typically the fence will not divert them from the hives unless you bait the fence. I put tuna cans or some back or lard soaked rags on the fence to get them to bit on it. That works.
ReplyDeleteThe other problem is skunks so I use a three-wire system.
I would assume that your dog would start barking with a bear nearby. If my bee yards have a dog w/i 75 yards or so the bears leave them alone, too.
Watching the spring breakup is great and a reminder of what warmer weather is all about. Take care.
HI ART... We have lots of bees here and I would love to make Honey. Hannah barks whenever a Bear shows up..even if that Bear is 1/2 km away. She doesn't bark for Moose or Wolves. She lets us know they are there but she is quiet.
ReplyDeleteIs a flecker some kind of woodpecker? Lots of spring around king salmon!:)
