WINDY POND CABIN HAD 2" OF NEW SNOW. TOOK HALF AN HOUR TO CLEAN UP THE WORK PLACE.
| Husqavarna has their chain adjustment in a poor place when using an Alaskan Mill. Bryan made up this tool but it is still hard to do. |
THE BEST INVESTMENT YOU CAN MAKE WHEN OWNING AN ALASKAN MILL IS TO BUY A SHARPENER FOR IT. WITHOUT IT YOU WILL GO THROUGH CHAIN LIKE CRAZY AND YOUR MILL JUST WILL NOT CUT PROPERLY.
BRYAN IS ON HIS THIRD CHAIN IN 4 YEARS OF LOTS OF USE. HE ALSO BUYS FILES IN BOXES OF 12. AS SOON AS THE FILE STARTS TO LOOK SHINY HE ROTATES IT A THIRD. AFTER ALL THREE SIDES ARE USED HE CHUCKS IT.

Bryan, what tooth angle do you use when sharpening for the Alaska Mill?
ReplyDeleteHi George.... the tooth angle to sharpen the Alaskan Mill is 10%
ReplyDeleteHi Brian... yes, the logs are frozen inside when you cut but the saw is sharp
