Remembrances for my family "EGGS"
When my dad (George Wilson McNeil),who was Lea's Great Grandfather, was 6 or 7 years old during the Great Depression, his job after school several times a week was to deliver chicken eggs to different people all over town. His mom and dad had chickens and he would collect the eggs and put them in his little red wagon. He'd harness his dog up and off they would go with the dog pulling the wagon. The funny part of the story is not the dog pulling the wagon or waiting on the street while he took the egg cartons into each house.....No, the funny part was my dad's tame chicken who rode on the wagon with the eggs. The load was high...15 or 20 dozen eggs and here was that chicken sitting on top of the pile of eggs.
