Restoring the 1991 Johnson 40 Horse Jet Motor

Bryan hoisted up the Outboard Motor and started to strip it.  It's still about 0 cel with a light wind and his hands would get cold and he would have to go warm them by the fire.  The first day he just took apart.  To day he used the Honda Water Pumb and hosed out the fine silt.
If anyone knows how to tell the year of this Johnson 40 Model VJ40EEIH serial  G 02988700 let us know.  We need to find a parts motor like it.

The jet needs a new baring.

The Jet looks like it needs a new sleeve. The 40 - 50  Out Board Jet is from San Leandro, California

Beaver, Muskrat and Ducks

There's now 3 large Adult Beavers plus one small one.  Also the Muskrat Colony 20 feet from the dock is out and about now even in the day time.

Mallards, Northern Shovellers, Goldeneye, Green Winged Teal.

Icom M700 Side Band Radio

First Bryan had to rig up an antenna holder from his scrap metal bin.
Then he installed the new antenna.  This radio was mailed to us by our friend down on the lower Taku River.  It has about 5 times the power as the SBX radio.  Also lots of different channels.  We are monitoring  4485 now.  It's a great radio..... we were just booming out.
It's just sitting on the table now but Bryan will mill up some boards this month and make a table for it plus the charger etc.
Note..... We heard from Matt and he told us to get the SBX antenna away from the ICOM antenna by at least 100 feet.  He said when you transmit out of one radio, much of that power is going straight into the receiver of the other radio.
We immediately disconnect the SBX Radio.  Bryan will take down the SBX Antenna this afternoon.

Creek Opening Up

Bryan's fishing.   It is great we can get our Fishing Licenses off the Internet now.  No bits.

A little Hawk took down several Junco's in the last few days...everything is somewhere on the food chain.  The ducks started to return yesterday.  First 6 Mallards,  then Goldeneyes
and a Green Winged Teal.
