Vikki & Bryan, from myself and the rest of my family, here's hoping you have a great new year, and a bunch of new adventures that you can share with us.

Take care and be safe up there, and have a drink or two for me!

Happy New Year Bryan and Vikki! I hope the warm winter is enjoyable this winter but still makes for a good year of trapping. I see on the trapping discussion boards that some fellows are having trouble with rain and are pulling their traps and just leaving snares out. Hanging Marten sets like you guys do should be unaffected shouldn't they? At least the warm conditions may keep the furbearers active. Stay safe from overflow! Happy 2012.

I read your blog and wish I could do the same thing as you do. Haven't found the man I need for doing that, though....

We woke up to snow this morning. It started as rain and ended up as a few inches of frozen snow. As a New Year's party last night for people over 60 I did share insight into how to thaw a frozen wolf. There was great interest which then moved into global population issues and the wish that we all could live a bit more remotely w/ fewer people and simpler, but challenging day-to-day work. Thanks for the info on the traps; with more practical experience I would know the challenge of removing a frozen trap and damaging my work. Best regards for the New Year.

Vikki & Bryan,

Best of the year in 2012. I work at a desk job but have a cabin in the wood here in Southern Ontario. Love to read about your day. The highligfhts are when Bryan talks about how he builds stuff or works on his machines. My machine for braking trail into my cabin is a 2007 Yamaha Viking. track is similar to the Skandic (20*156) but with the four stroke Engine the machine is heavy. Lucky for my I only break trail 4-5KM.

What other aninials do you trap for food? Do you ever get rabbits?

Terry

Hi Terry... Moose meat is the best. Lots of Trappers double boil Beaver meat and it is okay. Squirrel meat is chewie if you are in a real pinch.
