We Had Company!!!!

Our trapper friend Brian flew in today in his little Super Cub. Brian and his dog Pal were only able to say for an hour but he promised to stay the night the next time he is passing over. He brought us in some fresh vegetables. A big salad is planned for supper. Romaine Lettuce, Cauliflower, Red Peppers, Cucumber and Celery. It is heaven.
Bryan had gone out two days ago and made a strip with "Miss Piggy" our Super Wide track Scandic 800. The overflow is very bad on this lake. When you walk on the airport your foot leaves a indent and you can see the mush. A big Beaver would never be able to land .....Last year was different, there was a good 40" of good ice down there. But this year it is not great ice. We only take the skidoos along the edges of the lake or on the well packed crossing at the narrows.
It was really nice to have company. We were really looking forward to his visit. but when they leave you feel exhausted and just want to sit and read. No radio on, No conversation, just sit and read the newspaper that came in or a book.

A Lynx Visited Us Today

It had snowed heavily all night and the blizzard was still going this morning. We were still sitting by the kitchen table sipping coffee and watching the snow fall at 10:30am. Finally Bryan got his skidoo stuff on and went out to his shop to redo the fire for the chickens. Right in front of the shop door and into the shed were Lynx tracks fresh in the snow. It had come from behind our area and went into the shed and snooped around and then walked right beside our window and out through the gate to our dock and snooped around there. We never even saw it....it had to have been out there checking out our camp at 10:15am. The snow was so high we might have been able to see his Lynx tips but we were looking out at the falling snow ....not at the path. Usually we are outdoors by that time....but the 30" in one day was slowing us down.
